Consumers clamored to get out of the house.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paulzimnisky.com\/roughdiamondindex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zimnisky Rough Diamond Index<\/a>, rough diamonds prices are down almost 16% year to date as of late 2023, and down 26% from their all-time high.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gold demand fluctuates according to what\u2019s going on in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Economic and geopolitical landscapes influence demand, as gold is used as a store of value and a safe haven when things get rough in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inflation has helped push demand for gold. Gold is sought out as a hedge against inflation. It is thought to preserve the buying power of the dollar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goldprice.org\/gold-price-history.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gold is up 19.34% year over year as of late 2023. One is spelled with a \u201cC\u201d and the other with a \u201cK.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both carat and karat are important terms in determining the value of each.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gold\u2019s karat measures the purity of a gold product. Together, these factors determine the quality of a diamond as a gemstone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/4cs.gia.edu\/en-us\/4cs-diamond-quality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gemological Institute of America (GIA)<\/a>\u2014a nonprofit that is the world\u2019s leading authority on diamonds\u2014these are the four C\u2019s and their relationship to the value of a diamond.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Carat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the weight of a diamond. Generally, the larger the carat, the more expensive the diamond. A large-carat diamond is rarer than a smaller-carat diamond.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Color<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has an inverse effect on the quality of a diamond. A chemically and structurally perfect diamond has no color.
